New state officers participated in the Leadership Academy with Mark Burley.  Mark led the group in team activities that focused on leadership skills. Excitement was in the air as the SC HOSA Officer Team prepared themselves for the tasks that lie ahead of them this year.

Nineteen candidates completed the national officer screening process.  The candidates attended an orientation session and completed the officer examination.  The candidates are awaiting the interview portion with the nominating committee.
   
 Scholarship Recognition
HOSA state associations and National HOSA awarded over $399,550 in scholarships for the 2007-2008 membership year!  At this year’s NLC, 46 scholarships were presented to award recipients totaling $53,500. Two SC HOSA members received awards: Tiffany Renee Bass, Aiken County Career & Technology Center $1,000 Phillip R. Patton/HCA and LeAnna Grace Mullet, G. Frank Russell Career & Technology Center, $1,000 Nursing Spectrum.

South Carolina HOSA obtained a 27% increase−4th in the nation.

   
Mike Brode, recent graduate of the Academy for Technology and Academics, and rising freshman at the University of South Carolina begins his campaign for National HOSA President-Elect. SC voting delegates do their part to elect the 2008-2009 National HOSA Executive Council.
   
A first for HOSA—An “all male” leadership team! The Grand Awards Session highlighted the conference where the top ten candidates for each event were recognized. The EMT team from Hanna-Westside Extension Campus in Anderson placed 1st in the nation!
